“We both had our hearts set on the Rosevine – it just felt right!”
Anna-Louise and Ivan are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. The couple could not have been more loving, kind or full of laughter every single time we spoke or met them. After nearly a decade together the pair ‘s genuine devotion to each other is completely infectious. On the first weekend in October 2017 we welcomed the couples nearest and dearest for the weekend to celebrate their wedding, the whole party were so close and caring they were a joy to be around.
The first to arrive to the wedding was in fact The Father of the Groom in his vintage Rolls Royce on the Thursday afternoon! Purchased specially for the wedding after many years trying to convince the family he ‘needed one’. After breaking down several times from Polruan where the family live and Portscatho, the Rolls ended up in our car park for far longer than expected until a tow could be arranged!
The weekend began when the two love birds arrived and excitingly ran around the house putting up pictures of their guests on the door of the room they would be residing. We then put up the metres and metres of bunting Anna-Louise had painstakingly made in the wedding colour theme of soft grey tones. Once the bunting was up the BBQ commenced to kick of the celebrations.
Following a morning of pampering for the girls and a laid-back breakfast for the boys, the couple surrounded by their 65 guests wed at 1pm in our restaurant and it was just beautiful. Throughout the planning period the couple had told me how much they liked gin. So, post ceremony the party began with gin based bramble cocktails, which sweetly is the same name as one of their beloved dogs. Canapes accompanied the velvet tones of Lucy -Anna who performed as a surprise for Anna-Louise, arranged by Ivan in the lead up to the day.
Three downright hilarious speeches followed from Anna-Louise’s brother- in- law, Ivan and the best Man, before the wedding feast commenced.
Starter – Smoked salmon and beetroot salad with horseradish dressing
Main – Braised steak au poires, mashed potatoes and market veg
Dessert – Homemade berry pavlova
The laughter, gin and dancing ramped up another gear altogether when The Struts started performing! Two live sets and a DJ hour had the whole party dancing the night away, celebrating the marriage of two very special people. When we say everyone was dancing we really mean it…
October the 6th and 7th must be one of our favourite weekends of this year. Not only was it great to get to know such a great couple who we now consider friends, it was a lot of fun and a real honour to help make their wedding everything they hoped for.

“When we saw the Rosevine for the first time, we knew instantly that this was the place where we wanted to get married because it provided the perfect setting for our friends and family. However, when we got married we realised that the extremely helpful and brilliant staff were so much more, and in fact the Rosevine wouldn’t be anywhere near what it is without the wonderful staff who go above and beyond in every way. We wanted the staff to mix in with our friends and family to share in our celebrations and they did this perfectly, many of our friends and family commented after the wedding what wonderful staff worked at the Rosevine. We really feel that we have made some lovely friends! The food matched the highest of expectations among our guests – everything was just perfect! We couldn’t recommend the Rosevine enough, it really is the most amazing place to get married and the accommodation is top notch.” Ivan & Anna – Louise Tomlin.
