A PERFECT WINTER DAY

Cornwall

Escape normality and take the winding road from daily life to Cornwall-life.  Pull up in the car park and breathe in the fresh sea air, then after a good night’s sleep wake up to the stunning view out of your French window – even in winter Gerrans Bay is awe-inspiring.  Fill up with a hearty breakfast and head to one of the local towns or villages for a bit of Christmas shopping, you can never start too early!

St Mawes has some lovely boutiques, Onda, St Mawes Pottery and Grace & Favour, or head to nearby Falmouth or Truro for a great selection of independent as well as high street shops.  Recommendations include Cream of Cornwall in Falmouth and The Clementine in Truro. Check out our festive package here, you may catch the Truro City of Lights midwinter festival on 22nd November, a parade of over 600 lanterns made by local artists, schools and groups, followed by the Christmas lights switch on.   Or, visit one of the beautiful harbour villages like Mousehole near Penzance or Padstow for a magical evening of mulled wine, carols and Christmas lights that even extend out into the harbour.

Mousehole

You may even like to catch a show in the evening, the Hall For Cornwall in Truro features local touring companies, try KneeHigh’s production of The Tin Drum, or a classic, Sleeping Beauty for family friendly fun.

Or have a quiet night in with a good book and a glass of red, we have lots of novels to choose from including some by local authors.

Post-Christmas, there’s always a good excuse to head to the seaside and work off the food and alcohol consumed over the festive period!  No need for gym equipment here, simply bring walking boots and some waterproofs and head off on a salty, sea air adventure.  Cornwall is also a spectacular place to watch storms rolling in, head to Porthleven or Penzance as you head west, and Sennen Cove, Botallack, Pendeen Watch and Cape Cornwall are some of the best spots on the North Coast.
